• Government very responsive to manufacturer requirements.
• Strong commitment of US buyers to source from Jordan.
• Better compliance with labor and ethical standards.

Con’s

• Lack of experience in garment industry.
• Workers are not experienced and require training.
• Lack of experienced middle managers.
• No professional institutions for training middle managers.
• Competition between manufacturers for experienced professionals.
• Weak tertiary market.
• Few supporting industries for garments.

Egypt:

Pro’s

• Labor in Egypt more experienced
• Per hour rate of $0.77 vs. Jordan of $0.81
• Local cotton and textile industry.
• One of the oldest and largest producers of cotton.
• Large number of experienced Middle managers.
• Experienced managers with years of experience in the garment industry.

Con’s

• Corruption
• Ranked 77 by transparency International vs. Jordan 37th country is plagued with corruption. &bill; Israel input of 11%
• Input of 11% requirement vs. 8% in Jordan. No local experience in Qualification procedures.
• Political and security risk
• QIZ has not been accepted by the public in Egypt.
